Description

Caldwell 73 is a relatively massive globular cluster located about 40,000 light years from earth. It has an extremely dense core which resulted in some image saturation even using relatively short 60 s exposures. There are some suggestions that C73, similar to Omega Centauri,  may be a dwarf galaxy nucleus stripped of its outer stars and accreted into the Milky Way.

Numerous faint and distant galaxies can also be seen.
